AI is all over the headlines these days, and at the forefront is the idea that it’s going to take your job from you. As people, the first thing we do is always jump to fear, and we like to spread fear to others. It’s as if there’s no fear in our everyday lives; we don’t know what to do. I challenge you not to let fear of this new technology stifle you. If you learn how to exist with it, you’ll be fine.
Over the last two to three years, the same fear has been directed at electric vehicles. Everyone in the world was going to have an electric vehicle, and if you had a combustion car, you would be like a caveman. It’s pretty clear that everyone isn’t driving an electric vehicle (EV), and the world didn’t come to an end.
It was the same with the internet; it was going to put all brick-and-mortar companies out of business. Yes, some companies went by the wayside, but it wasn’t just because the internet arrived. There were other factors that related to their demise. There are plenty of companies that thrived in the creation of the internet, and now people shop both online and in stores.
When you hear the doomsday stories of AI, don’t jump on that train. Educate yourself and figure out what’s real and what’s nonsense. This will help you get comfortable with the technology and build the confidence to try it yourself.
